BARNSLEY DUO MAKES BEST TEAM

The Barnsley duo of Michal Helik and Mads Andersen have made the English Championship Team of the Season compiled by Whoscored. The two Barnsley defenders were part of the three-man defence named in front of Norwich City goalkeeper Tim Krul.

Dutch international Krul was instrumental as Norwich City sealed a return to the top flight after just a season in the Championship. The former Newcastle United shot stopper had a save success rate of 76.7% and only Freddie Woodman (20) of Swansea City kept more clean sheet than him this season. Krul kept 17 clean sheets during the just concluded regular season in the Championship. The goalkeeper had a rating of 6.87 over the course of the season.

Norwich City teammate Grant Hanley joined Krul in defence alongside the aforementioned Barnsley duo of Helik and Andersen. Hanley had a rating of 7.19, while Helik had a rating of 7.25. Andersen returned a rating of 7.19.

Andersen finished the season as the player with the most clearances (242) ahead of his Barnsley teammate Helik (234). Andersen also made the most interceptions (113), while Helik was third in this category (102).

Four midfielders made the team and they were Emiliano Buendia of Norwich City, Reading player Michael Olise, Stoke City talisman Nick Powell and Bournemouth player Arnaut Danjuma.

Spanish player Buendia was one of two players to reach double figures for both goals and assists in the Championship. He scored 15 goals and provided 16 assists. In addition, the Norwich City talisman also created 122 chances, which is 37 more than any other player. Buendia is widely regarded by many as the best player in the division.

Blackburn Rovers striker Adam Armstrong, Brentford hitman Ivan Toney and Cardiff City star Kiefer Moore are the other three players on the list.
