DISASTER

Barnsley’s season so far has been a disaster as they are located at the very bottom of the Championship league with 17 points having only managed to claim 3 triumphs out of the 24 matches already played.

Their last triumph in the league was back in December 3 when they managed to claim a 2-1 victory over Brighton.

The latest encounter of Barnsley saw them facing off against Birmingham City and despite having more shots on goal and the better half of time with the ball under their control, the final scoreboard displayed 1-1.

Birmingham City’s Callum Reilly delivered a cross that managed to evade the goalkeeper of Barnsley Luke Steele and making its way to where Zigic was located as he scored the 1st goal of the encounter after 10 minutes had passed.

Barnsley tried to find the equalizer as they pressured the opposition upfront and were rewarded at the 61st minute when Jacob Mellis fired a close range shot that went into the back of the net and equalized the match.

Even though Barnsley was the better of the teams that were battling it out, all they could secure was 1 point. They will need to do much more if they want to escape from the bottom spots of the Championship league.

Stoke winger Brek Shea has joined Barnsley on a loan deal as he will spend 28 days with the Championship club and help them overcome their current situation that sees them getting relegated if they do not change it up and get positive results.

Shea, 23, signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Stoke in January 2013 for a fee of £2.5m from Major League Soccer side FC Dallas. But he has made just three appearances for the Premier League side since his arrival at the Britannia Stadium.
