Blackburn Rovers plan contract extension for Bradley Dack

Blackburn Rovers are reportedly planning a new contract with midfielder Bradley Dack. The 24-year-old joined the Lancashire outfit from Gillingham last summer and played a fundamental role in helping the club secure promotion from League One. The attacker contributed 15 goals and 18 assists during the course of the campaign and Rovers are now keen on securing his long-term future at Ewood Park.

According to HITC Sport, Tony Mowbray’s side are keen to extend the midfielder’s contract beyond the summer of 2020 and talks are already underway with the player’s representative. It is added that Dack is most likely to extend his stay with the Rovers, who are now back in the Championship mix after a year out of the division.
Aside from Dack, the club are also keen on extending deals for other key players including Danny Graham and Craig Conway and the next few weeks could produce a string of contract announcements. Regardless of this, Rovers have not shown much intent during the ongoing transfer window and so far, they have managed to recruit just two midfielders in the form of Joe Rothwell and Jacob Davenport.

Rovers were one of the most in-form teams in the League One last term after making a relatively poor start with back-to-back defeats but they cannot afford a similar run in the Championship where they can expect a challenging re-entry. The Championship have often tended to provide surprises with teams touching unexpected lows and highs and Mowbray will be hoping that his team can start the campaign on a high.

The newly-promoted outfit have been pitted against Ipswich Town for the opening game of the Championship on the road and that promises to be a tricky test considering the unpredictable nature of the hosts. Rovers thereafter play their first home game versus Millwall, who were one of the surprise packages during the backend of the previous season.
