BARNSLEY LOSE OUT

Barnsley FC has been defeated by Peterborough United in a Championship match played at Oakwell Stadium on Tuesday. Peterborough won the match by 2-0. This was the second victory for Peterborough in the ongoing Npower Championship.

The Posh had lost their opening seven Championship matches on the trot in the current season. But, they made a comeback in the tournament with a convincing victory over Hull City last Saturday and then, followed it up with another victory over Barnsley. With this victory, Peterborough has now moved up to no. 22 in the Championship points table with six points in 9 matches.

On the other hand, this was the fourth defeat for Barnsley in the ongoing Championship. Due to this defeat, Barnsley has now moved down to no. 11 in the points table. Barnsley has played 9 matches in the tournament so far out of which the team has won three and lost four matches. The remaining two matches have ended in the form of draw. Barnsley currently has 11 points in 9 matches.

After a thumping victory over Hull City two days ago, the Posh came into this match with a lot of confidence and they took the lead in the second minute of the match. It was George Boyd who scored the first goal for Peterborough. The Posh managed to double their lead just after 8 minutes with the goal of Tyrone Barnett.

Barnsley had a very good chance of reducing the lead in the 35th minute, but, Craig Davies didn’t manage to place his shot perfectly. The ball bounced back after hitting the crossbar and the score remained 2-0.

In the second half, the intentions of the Peterborough team were pretty clear. The Posh played with a defensive attitude and they were just looking to prevent Barnsley from scoring any goal. They succeeded in doing so. The second half went goalless and Barnsley lost the match.

Barnsley will play its next match against Leeds United on Saturday.
